Re: Choosing an appropriate engine
Tach, water temp, oil pressure, volts, fuel, trim, at a minimum.
Oil temp, fuel pressure, water pressure are optional and not really need on a stock 496. Depth finder and GPS speedo are nice to have. With a 496 you can get the Smartcraft monitor and you really don't need gauges. The gauges look cool though! http://www.mercurymarine.com/smartcraft_sc1000_monitor |

i dont know why anyone bought anything bigger here. the nova i found is a 93' model without an engine and since its the closest i could get to a powerboat i want it. i wanted a direct fit thats why i think the 496 would be a good option regarding modification and power, also there are a few used in the classifieds that seems to be a bargain what kind of gauges would i'll need in order to monitor the engine at a certain level? |
Re: Choosing an appropriate engine
Are there any merc dealers locally?
|
Re: Choosing an appropriate engine
yeah there is a merc dealer but i think the price of a new 496 ho here will be twice the price of a new 496 ho in the states
having a look under the classifieds there are some 496 ho for sale in the range of 12000-13000 which seems to be very nice |
Re: Choosing an appropriate engine

http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-10746.html i also send an email to the local mercury dealer and the price i got for a stock 496 HO with a bravo 1 drive was $40000 that's why a used engine from the states would save a lot of money |
Re: Choosing an appropriate engine
