Sad week ending for Candyman and his wife
Alot of us know Dan the "candyman" and his wife Vicky. What most of us don't know, is that they have no
children. Instead, they provide a home for sheltered, stray, or homeless cats.
Over the last few months, one of their very loved cats "Tiffany" became progressively more ill each week. She was diagnosed with cancer. While at our Chicago Poker run this saturday, you could tell that something was bothering the both of them. I knew what it was. They were both worrying about the cat that they left at home, and hoping that she was doing OK.
Sunday morning they were awakened by a phone call from Dan's father telling them that when he came to the house to feed the cats, he found poor Tiffany laying dead on the floor.
Since they don't have children, these cats are like their kids. Just a terrible way to end a perfect weekend at a poker run.
Our condolences go out to the both of you.

Dan and Vicki, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Tom and I do not have any childrens either and we have 3 cats. These ARE our children. It is very hard to lose a pet and a member of the family. Our hearts go out to you.

Very sorry to hear your loss, yes they become your children. I have a black lab, Jesse James and if anything happened to him I would just be a mess, what would I do without my navigator on the beak boat!!! All the best and better days are ahead.

My condolences to you Dan and Vicki.
I had one of my cats die on the morning I was leaving for a FPC poker run last year February. Since it was 5am and my flight left at 7am, I didnt have time to take him to a vet to properly dispose of him at that moment. I was forced to put him in the garage ( which was below freezing, so it preserved him somewhat ). That entire poker run, I was thinking of him, how he was gone, and how crappy it was of me to have to put him in a cardboard box in my garage until I got back from the poker run...I got back from the run, had him cremated and kept his ashes.
I still miss him, but I have 4 others that help and keep me occupied.
