Winnipesaukee boaters !
Well they seem to be at it again
WinnFABs (the group that supported HB162)
has conveniently scheduled a Legislative "Scenic"
Boat ride this Saturday (July 29th) and next
Saturday (August 5th). Leaving from the Meredith
town docks Saturday morning to cruise around the
lake. Why I say conveniently? BOTH Baja and Donzi
clubs are having their Poker runs this Saturday
(July 29th) and Formula is having theirs next
Saturday (August 5th). Please be EXTRA courteous,
don't be the one they point out "See that's why we
need a speed limit" and please pass the word

Hopefully the legislators will see how large the lake is and why speed is far from being an issue that requires more legislation and funding.

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !
I assume they will be on the vessel "Mount Washington"? Remind them that they are supporting the degradation of the environment, the fish, the wildlife, the tranquility and peace of the lake by riding on such a large and polluting vessel (diesel). Remind them that because the ship travels at such a slow speed and creates such an enormous wake and turbulence, it poses threats to shoreline erosion, pleasure boating safety (capsizing) and visual attrocities to lake shore residents and visitors alike. Because of it's size it becomes all encompassing where ever it happens to be, and detracts from natural beauty an dsplendor of the surroundings. Also, you may wish to remind them, that the performance boaters are only there for very brief periods while cruise boats are there all season.
GOOD LUCK!

If they are leaving from the Meredith docks they are probably going to be abored the "Doris E" or the "Sophie C". I don't think the Mount goes into Meredith bay at all.

Maybe they'll see all the azzholes that have NO idea how to drive a boat, and realize that speed really ISN'T the issue, but boater education is! We should find out what boat they will be on and some of us should just "happen" to be on the same boat, and say things like "Look at all those guys in their Baja's, driving nice and courteously, raising money for a great cause like Easter Seals..." or something like "wow, did you see that guy in the 22' bowrider cut off that other guy in the sailboat - how irresponsible and discourteous, I bet you'd never see one of them Donzi boat owners do that!!"
And they started to bring the Mount into Meredith a few summers ago - so it could be the Mount, Doris or Sophie...
