Who has the better warranty, Mercury or Ilmor? Where are Ilmor service centers for warranty problems?

Both have 1 year warranty. I would think the Ilmor's would hold up longer due to being non supercharged.

Does anyone know why they were running different props. 15 5/8 x 34 for the mercs and 16x32 for the ilmors? with the higher pitch prop, maybe the ilmore woudl have had better efficiency? Also a reason for the faster acceleration with the ilmors.

Considering the motors seem to be equal in price and performance, it seemed odd to put that on their site. It's kind of like saying, "Hey, look at this, our motors are just as good as this new and upcoming company's motors."

It would make much more sense if it was on the Ilmor site!

It is in the cruising range that is interesting.

50MPH:
Merc 3000rpm-51mph-32.3GPH vs Ilmor 3500rpm-49mph-52.4GPH

60MPH:
Merc 3500rpm-61.6mph-45GPH vs Ilmor 4000rpm-60.5mph-65.7GPH

The Merc is 20GPH more efficient at cruise speeds!

Thats what I was saying in my first post! Thats a big difference. No boat that may be why Merc put it on their site

I can assure that you are mistaken about these numbers. I have time and time again proved that the 625 Ilmor is nearly as fuel efficient as the 496 merc. I have ran at the same rpm's for nearly 75 miles and then ran several fun runs and when we compare our fuel economy, we are very nearly the same. The only difference in the boats is that the other boat is about 1000#'s lighter. I can assure you that I am at least 25% plus more efficient than the 600merc ih the same boat.

We are considering launching our new boat with the Ilmor 625. The local marine sales guy says 'don't do it' because resale will be low. I want to know if anyone here would be turned away from a boat deal because it had the Ilmor instead of a Merc?

So in addition to earlier reasons the Merc gets much better gas milage cruising?? Again I propose my question, seems like Ilmor would need to be more competitive (pricing) to gain market share, price them to compete againist the 525efi, I think that would be a way to get market share. As for carring the Ilmors to a Dodge dealership, I don't know if that is a certifed mech for those motors??
