Small footnote to Ron's list of record holders. The early Gar Wood records show Indian River as the site. In fact, it was Indian Creek, which runs along Collins Ave. on Miami Beach. It is about 50 yards wide in spots, and at the end of the measured mile, there is a 50 foot opening under the 63rd Street bridge! Major cojones.

met Ken last year at the shootout, real nice and funny guy. Also was flipping channels on Saturday or Sunday and saw him on the History Channel.
