Re: Why do Fountains ride so good...
One thing that makes Lake Mi. and the other Great Lakes always interesting is the water temperature fluctuations. The warmer the water the softer the water. That 4 footer you go through in late August like a hot knife in butter is the same one that felt like submerged concrete on Memorial Day.

The viscosity of water decreases as temperature increases. Colder water = harder water. Also, this is why you will see less prop slip in colder water - the water is more viscous, and the prop has more to grab hold of. |

If I recall correctly, water is at it's most viscous at 34 degrees, before it becomes a solid. I have no idea why it would lose viscosity at 33, but maybe at that point it is a semi-solid. |

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=136104 The first leg starts 12:45 into the video. Wish you could have made the run. I know you would have loved the water! You would probably have enjoyed the premium open bar on Friday & Saturday nights also. :evilb: :drink: Dan |
Re: Why do Fountains ride so good...
It breaks my heart to miss any chance to run in the fun water. Sounds like you guys did great without me but I will pay more attention to the weather next year. NK

We need a shot of your boat coming out of the city with the rooster tail. That would be an awesome shot.
