Post 2002 NJ Performance Powerboat Club SCHEDULE!

Hello Everyone,

We are proud to finally announce the 2002 NJPPC Schedule! The schedule was created based on several principles. We first looked at what events have been successful events in the past for NJPPC. We also looked at the current economic climate and tried to make most of this year’s events more affordable for everyone. One example of this is that we will have only 1 overnight poker run on the 2002 schedule. All of the other poker runs and events will be “one” day events with entry fees less than half of what an overnight poker run costs.

We also took into account the input that we received from the members during the course of the year. We (the NJPPC Planning Committee) also took a pretty critical look at the facilities we utilized this past year and how well the accommodated us.

So, with that said, here it is:

June 1st & 2nd
Atlantic City Overnight Poker Run
This event has been our most successful event going on our 5th year in a row! Our first Atlantic City Poker run was held back in 1998 and it has grown every year since then. It enables all members with varying boat sizes to participate as everyone can choose to take the Inland Water Way or the Atlantic Ocean to our final destination. TRUMP MARINA HOTEL & CASINO!! Voted as our #1 event by the NJPPC Membership, It’s one heck of a way to kick off the summer boating season!

Sat. June 29th
Barnegat Bay Poker Run
Another favorite among the members since it is only a one day event and the entry fee is reasonable. We’re looking at some possible new locations for our final destination. Again, this event also enables all members with varying boat sizes to participate as everyone can choose to take the Inland Water Way or the Atlantic Ocean to our final destination. We are also going to alter our registration and day of “check in” process to ensure we don’t have a repeat of the lines last year.

Fri. July 12th
Radar Shootout Party
A great time at a great location. Some great “pre-game” boasting takes place this night!

Sat. July 13th
Radar Shootout
Time to “Put Up or Shut Up” as the radar guns tell the tale as to who is the fastest in their class. We have had boats from 13ft to 46ft compete on this day in the past.. 13 Trophies will again be up for grabs!

Sat. August 3rd
Philadelphia Poker Run
Last year we met some great new members in a new area for NJPPC. So we’re going back! We’re going to change the course a bit with more running “down the river” so we give the participants “more room” to have more fun! We will also be starting out of Dave & Buster’s again in downtown Philadelphia. This also is only a one day event and the entry fee is reasonable.

Sat. August 31st
NJPPC ‘ROAR at the SHORE!” Hi-Performance Boat & Car Show/ Poker Run
This is a BRAND NEW event for NJPPC. This event will be staged at Windward Beach & Laurelton Yacht Club in Brick NJ. This is sure to be a real pleaser for any Hi-Performance junkie! We’re currently working on the details for this event and we hope to have more information to share within the next month or two. STAY TUNED!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE BIG!!!

September 21st & 22nd
Trump Marina Offshore Grand Prix @ Farley State Marina
This unfortunately was canceled last year due to 9/11. We cannot tell you how excited we are about hosting this event for APBA Offshore. The preliminary boat lists for the 2002 classes look real promising.
We again – will be looking for volunteers for this years race. If the outpour of support is anything like last year, we’re going to need a paper number ticket dispenser like the ones on the deli counters at your local supermarket! If you signed up last year, we have you on the list already and you will be contacted in the Spring.

We are very excited about this year’s schedule and we hope that you are too! If you have any specific ideas for any of the above events, please feel free to email us your ideas. We can never have enough ideas on how to make great events GREATER!

Hope to see you soon!

Thanks guys.....we're just praying for good weather The ROAR at the Shore should be interesting! We're inviting our sponsors, boat dealers, car clubs to come display their stuff.......... We have had alot of help from Mike Merola & Jack Nydam in planning this event.

27Fountain - yes..the letter to the Editor was from me. I'm a firm believer in how Poker Runs America runs their events (no booze, safety, strict rules etc...) and we adopted similar rules as well. (see the Poker Run 10 Commandments) Those who break our rules get 1 warning. If they break the rules a 2nd time, they get bounced from the club.

We're flexible about ALOT of things, except when it comes to safety.

And I think that we as performance boaters are already viewed as "guilty until proven innocent" in the eyes of many on the water. I think the last thing we need is any media source showing performance boaters acting reckless (boozing during the run, riding on sunpads while underway, standing and holding onto Radar arches while underway...etc...)

When the run is over - I'll wrestle anyone for a cocktail!

Dave P.
I know what you mean, I feel its more of a personal responcibility. I think its OK if passangers behave "moderatly", no excuses for driver.

Anyway looks like a great schedule and allot of fun, I might try to make it up to the Radar shoot out, if I am recovered from the APBA Races the weekend before in Savanna.

Thanks for the update.
