As I understand the Poker Run matter,Poker Run legality, as such surfaced a few months ago.A motorcycle poker Run charity for a policeman caused the ruling.

TX has some strange laws..... Just try collecting money from somone in TX when you're out of state, you'll never see it..

Our CFO cringes whenever I bring in business and it's located in Texas.

I believe TX was voted at one of the "fattest" states in a food study recently....

Gaming laws are handled by each state individually. I used to be involved with the casino boat business in South Carolina. I spent years following this stuff.

States can "fall back" on Federal laws, but for the most part they are independent.

You believe wrong, Texas ranked #10 :drink: . http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,211367,00.html

I'd have to take exception with your first statement also, Texas is very aggressive with any kind of financial matter. The only place in North America I could not collect from was Quebec. It really comes down to who you have collecting. :D

Thats what I understand, only effective change is that they now call them "Fun Runs" not much else has changed. :drink:

The collection law is good if you live in the state but not if you're trying to collect out of state. Unfortunately we've run into this many times.

As far as obesity, that's good, it must have come down a bit since the special I saw on Discovery Channel.

I have to ask this question. If a poker run is for charity and there is a payout to first, second, third.....wouldn't that be like 50/50 raffles for charity? Those are technically gambling but are they illegal?

What about the blue-hair bingo parlors (churches)
