I was told they are a POS and don't bother with opne unless you are a good mechanic. (no personal experience with one though)

Had one for a year when they first came out in 94, hated everything about it. Sold it and bought a 15 Whaler Rage, also jet. Much better boat but not the fast little speeder. Great boat for hitting the islands with the dogs and kids. They made the Whaler with a 175 for a couple of years.

Depends on the environment too, with salt-water etc...Some people still forget to run the engines on jet boats on land after use. The older merc-powered sea rayders broke down easier and also had less power (90hp). Either way, top speed is mid thirties to 40 tops with the 120hp.
I agree Sea-doo jet boats, if they're powered by Merc are good, but ones with the Rotax engine I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole. Yamaha's are always good!

I owned a Sea Ray 1997 SeaRayder F-16 RX, Merc 175 V6 sport jet from May 1997 through Nov 2003. Ran the boat in NJ, Barnegat Bay, and ocean through May 2002, then moved to FL and ran boat in Charlotte Harbor and gulf.
Extremely well built boat, motor and drive train, very low maintenance, and dependable. A blast to launch off waves. I sold mine in Nov 2003 for $4,750.
