Here it is back in better days....'02 SCOPE poker run. Thing was a real head turner at the run. Very cool in person.

Thanks for the repies guys, ...just got home from the Lake Cumberland Poker Run. Man, what a cool place.

wannabe, the one we bought from Chicago has been completed. My buddy decided to keep it. 850's, Konrads, all new interior, electric, paint etc. It's like a brand new 1992 Cig.

The one we're interested in is the red Superman 1990 'Gun. It's pretty clean just minus power/drives/steering.

Hey Tank, how's your TG treating you. Loved the Powerboat upgrades!!!

Didn't you white the book The Art Of The Deal?

Remember: I know you are asking 50K but how about 20K

Like Fred Head said run the numbers backwards and don't forget about reglassing in the transom.

Konrad Ace boxes will cover the #6 transom cut out. No glasswork needed.

Now CHOP CHOP back to work for you Audioboy

Run the numbers backwards - like this?
Reglass transom - 2K
complete drives, props, steering, tiebars, 30K
engines, exhaust - 40K (more if you want some serious HP)
accessories (strainers, coolers, etc.) - 5k
rigging labor - 10k
other stuff - 20k

That's about 100K without the cost of the boat thrown in. If you've already got spare parts laying around that will reduce to total. When your done, you may have something worth close to 100K although it is a special purpose boat as configured and may be hard to move without redoing the cockpit.

Now figure that most times it costs twice as much as you plan. You could easily end up at 150K+ into this thing by the time you're done. You had better love your new (old) Top Gun and use it frequently or plan on losing a bundle when selling it.

That's just my experience after completing a project.

Good luck to whoever takes it on. It's a good looking boat.

I wouldnt even consider it. How would you ever get your $ out of it, even if you dont count your time? There are alot of nice newer guns that can be had for under or around $100k, that will have better resale. IMO

Biggus - I've done it with a TG bare hull. Even having the engines, we still spent a ton. Unless you have a boatload (pun - intended) of parts you own already, I wouldn't recommend it. With the used boat market the way it is, there are way too many nice Top Gun's out there for reasonable prices for you to try to reinvent the wheel by doing it yourself. Just my humble opinion.
