Red Sea Rib Rally 1-10 Sept 2006
As there is talk about off shore races and rallies I would like to introduce (if I may) an international RIB rally that took place in Sharm EL Sheickh in Egypt during 1-10 Sept 2006.
The event is backed by UIM and RYA also has many sponsors. It will be shown on SKY SPORTS 1, 2 and 3 (one hour at a time) with various great shots from heli 2 taken by Paul Caddis the cameraman
There were crews from various parts of Europe (next year crews from the Far East, Australia, and the US are expected) and I was there part of the Greek crew who were the winners on a 10 mtr RIB powered by 2x200 Mercs Optima with Bravo I lab finished 26 props.
The 340 miles race was very tough with waves reaching a hight of 7 mtrs (about 22 ft). The average speed of the race for the winning boat (the Greek 33 ft TOP LINE Crossair 33) was 34.4 knots (not miles).
I would have included images and videos but unfotunately I cannot.
If you wish to see you can link to

or the Greek RIB forum

Hope you enjoy them
