Fountain vs Formula
Just wanted some opinions here.I have always wanted a Fountain but when I was looking at boats last summer and went into my local Fountain dealer.they basically blew me off.It was probably because I had my 9 year old triplets with me (and yes they were being good they love to look at boats)and he did not think I was serious.Told me I did not want a performance boat.
So I bought a 292 fastech Formula I will probably only keep it one more season before I move up to a 35 I want an Executioner but I am very happy with my Formula and the service I received from the dealer and the company in itself so now I am starting to think about the 353 formula...but I still want the Fountain I have driven a 42 EX and I loved it but you can't compare that to my boat or even a 35 EX or 353
What do you guys think any one owned both Brands????? Thanks

Owned 2 Formulas....I'm willing to bet the 35 Fountain is the same size as your 292. 
Our latest is a 382, if you can do it, DO IT! It is much bigger than the 353. We overnight often with 3 boys (ages 5-10) and it works well.

I'm willing to bet the 35 Fountain is the same size as your 292.
OK...enough already. We all know Fountains have a little less "running length" then some other boats, but give me a break. A 35 Fountain less 3 feet equals 32". A 29 formula minus platform measures 27 feet. The Fountain is longer, bigger cockpit, wider, much faster.

Own a Fountain, have climbed all over many Formulas (Formulae?)
Formula is a nicer finished boat.
Fountain is more solid structurally.
Formula has a shollower cockpit, but lots more storage.
Fountain has a deep cockpit (feels much safer), but the seats are much lower quality, no comparison.
Fountain is faster, so more fuel efficient.
If engines are not staggered, neither one provides decent access to fix anything.Many more Fountains have staggered engines, and I'll never buy a twin engined powerboat without staggered engines again.
No effective difference in the interiors. Both are very cramped below.
Formula seems to put better quality stuff in the boat.
Fountain seems to use plumbing from Home Depot.
I have removed and replaced almost every bit of equipment from my Fountain, and had everything replaced with high quality stuff, rigged by great riggers (Teague and Pfaff). Over the next few months, it looks like every last bit of anything installed by the Fountain factory will have been replaced. My boat is 7 years old.
But the quality of the hull design, and the lamination, of the Fountain is really, really exceptional.

Both the 353 and 35EX are a great move from a 29.
You should have both dealers give you a ride in each.
Call Bald Knob Marine for a ride in the Formula 353.
And Call Shogren Performance Marine for the ride in a 35Ex.
Then "you" can make the decision.

In general:
Fountain will be faster and quicker on equal power. Lighter and (see the beak) less running surface, model to model.
Formula will have nicer appointments in the cabin and cockpit.
Both are production boats. The quality edge goes to Formula. The performance edge goes to Fountain. Both are worth buying (let's avoid the pointless Reggie insults unless someone has something fresh) prices are comparable.
