When I shot my neighbors with a paperclip that was shot with a rubber band. You remember the ones you shot your buddy with in school. The cat did a tripple gainer and landed and never came back again. It was in heat!! Oh crap you were probably looking for cat boats stories. Sorry

I'm enjoying this post more than any other I can think of since I joined OSO.

We all know where the Chris Cat molds went; Awesome, American Offshore. I have seen Excaliburcats from Aerotek and from a company called Flight Deck out of Orlando. Flight Deck was really just one guy named Joe Dupuy. He was using his molds to build a center console fishing boat. He told me that he had the rights to the molds all along, that they had come from England originally, and he had licensed Excalibur and then Wellcraft to use them. I didn't attempt to verify any of this.

But in 1996, Joe got a contract to produce two boats for the John Travolta/Nicholas Cage movie "Face Off". He took the molds to Talon and hired them to produce the hulls and decks. Two boats were made with sport decks and outboard power. The movie deal fell through, (there was a boat chase, but with small vee hulls) and Talon didn't get paid. They hung on to one of the boats and sold it for about 20K.

Now about this idea of T2x writing a book. I've got a better idea, write a script. APBA should consider doing a special TV program on some of this history. I'm getting a little tired of the offshore race coverage "formula" anyway.

An offshore "biography" type show would take a lot more effort to produce, but it would help build the fan base by explaining the background of the sport. "Todays racers are standing on the shoulders of giants"...that kind of thing. Let's do this before guys like T2x lose their memory from years of hard landings and two stroke fumes!

T2x , great history lesson on Cats! I have 2 Cats myself, and one is a 26 ft Strike Cat, it was a Record holder in the APBA, B- Class in 1990 i believe. They were Racing Cats built in Buffalo N.Y. ,The builder only built 7 of them i have been told. Have you ever heard of a Strike Cat?
Keep up the good stories!
Thanks
Ron...

All right guys, a few posts back I cast my vote for T2x for Pres. Oh no that was a vote for contributing editor, I did not hear anyone second that. Ed, RonP, and all of you oso cat fans, what can we do to insure this wealth of knowledge does not disappear as suddenly as he appeared, where did he come from? I have raced a few boats back in the dark ages, mostly cats, and when I was young and not so bright a V bottom, sorry for that, but it was the best V bottom, a Linder/Luhrs 21’ and I have enjoyed this thread tremendously I don’t think there are any resident specialists on OSO, but we have a Guru amongst us. T2x. How can we get the owners of this site to entice T2x to head up a Cat section? I for one have been loging on and immediately searching for this thread, I really don’t find too much stimulation in reading, “Who is going to LOTO this weekend” or “My Cig. Broke 80 this weekend” How many times do we have to be exposed to these posts? Thank you T2x for 14 days of excitement. Once again T2x for President, or at least Tunnel hull editor.

I second the motion.

Out of no where T2x swoops in and lays down a few intoxicating posts that titilate the audience. I pray that we have just begun to tap the deep resources of T2x's mind and that he will find us worth to entrust this knowledge.

Post on T2x!
