Default Looking at 30 Outlaw or Sunsation 32 SS

I've read all the threads I can find about both these boats, so I'm not trying to open yet another can of worms. I know they are both great boats and I probably can't go wrong with either. I plan to test drive both at least once before making a final decision.

So instead, I have some questions about a few options on them. First off, sea strainers: are these worth the cost? The boat would be used in S. CA. pacific waters almost exclusively with an occasional run to the river. Also, I'm planning on 496HO's with bravo 1 X drives. However, once the warranty is out, I might add the Raylar kits or something similar to bring HP to around 525. Should I buy XR's now or wait and upgrade the drives (or maybe not?) later? I want very good reliability in either case.

Thanks.
John

Upgrade now. Nothing worse than a broken drive, I the think cost is less up front.

Definitely get the XRs. You can't have too much outdrive.

However, I don't know if you can buy a 496HO engine with an XR. They are normally packaged with the X or the XZ.

Yes, get them.

If you can get the XR's as an option, go for it. It should be less to do this up front rather than down the road.

Don't know exactly about pricing differences yet, but I'm starting to get some quotes back. I know that Sunsation offers the XR drives as an upgrade to the 496HO Bravo 1 X package, but I'm not sure about Baja.

Thanks for the input. If I can afford it, I'm gonna get the sea strainers and the XR drives. I want bulletproof reliability and the option to add just a bit of power later.

your right you cant go wrong with either boat. the sunsation will be faster. i dont know about the ride but i have heard good things about sunsation. i was also told that the 32 sun is a small 32. i was a big fan of the 30 ol when it came out and i thought a few times of getting one but the more i look the more i would get a 33 ol or even the 36. i think i would go for the 32 sunsation over the baja. this is comming from a baja owner. dont get me wrong i still like the 30 ol but i think i would go for the 32 sun first.

Sunsation makes 3 different 32' models.

32 Dominator
32 Innovator
32 SS

The 32SS is the biggest and deepest of all three. The Dominator is a little smaller boat, but bigger than a 32' Fountain! The Innovator is the one with the flip-up dash, and sit down/hybrid seating.
