Mounting Dry Sump Tanks on the Motors ??

Why don't the marine engine builders mount the dry sump tanks to the motors like drag cars??? It would make everything all self contained ,Especially when changing motors or when dynoing them???

Nice idea but where? We had a hard time hanging the alternators we were so tight on room.

Marine dry sump tanks are generally a lot bigger than drag race dry sump tanks. Where are you going to hang them? Riggers don't even want to hang aftermarket oil coolers on the engine.

the car guys do it cause they have no room the boats have room and you keep the vibrations off the tanks and the heat away from the oil supply

Beyond all the other very valid points alrerady posted...

Most are aluminum- aluminum work hardens (vibrations) and they would be very vulnerable to cracking.

not a good view, but it works. I think the reliable carriers boat had these too. Nice idea, for a race boat.
