Venom Powerboats ?

Re: Venom Powerboats ?
Don't know if it's still the case but Venom used to be owned by a guy called Sal Gentile. Met him at NY boat show, the in-water display on Jersey side. A really, really nice guy who was motivated and proud of his product. It looked like he was really trying to do things properly and put together a solid boat.
I did not ride on the boat he had on display but the finish was not bad. The boat looked a bit like a Hustler 344, especially the aft section and the engine hatch.
Poker Runs America did go out for a spin in the boat and they told me "not bad" afterwards. It isn't much info but maybe they published an article about it, not sure though. This was in 2004 I believe.

Yes this is true, but keep in mind I was 100 hp behind everyone in my class(boat was grandfathered with a 496HO) and with it being the prototype race version she was approx 300 lbs too heavy. A lot of improvments were made throughout the season and she got faster and faster. The last time in testing I had it up around a comfortable 76 mph(we started off @ 68), which considering the factors above, I was very pleased. I had the pleasure of going out in the pleasure(ZX) version and had a very comfortable 70 mph run, I think it had twin 496Mags in that version.
Sal still runs the company and based from some of the the R&D from the race boat he is making minor changes that will only make the pleasure version better. He can be reached @ 914-804-2009 if you have any questions on the Venom and I am sure he could arrange a demo ride for you to see if it fits your needs and wants in a performance boat.

I met with Sal almost three years ago up at Ocean Performance. The Venom was a nice boat and at the time was in my opinion priced well below the market at the time. I have not seen much about them except for the race boat since though. It definatly is something to look at if you are in the market. Or are you and Pops thinking about taking on another line? Either way hope you have a good winter. See ya this summer out east!!!
