All I know is that a car is ALOT cheaper than a boat. I just bought this A/C Cobra (Superformance replicar) for $60K with a custom 351 Windsor, bored & stroked to a 418 with 575HP. The car is absolutely immacualte. The engine is completely chromed. The car ROCKS!! It will run 3.6 to 0-60 and under 12 sec 1/4 mile (with the right driver) The car only weighs like 2450 lbs. I also bought a 24' enclosed trailer for $10K. I will use it to take the car on trips with the wife.

You can buy these cars as rollers (minus engine and tranny) or buy them slightly used. A new 427R (550HP) Roush engine with a 2yr/24K mile warranty is under $15K!!!

I realize to make an absolute "apples to apples" comparison, I would use a single engine boat. To clarify my comparison--I owned a twin screw and would only want a twin screw.

car= $60K
Engine= $4K (cost to rebuild)
trailer= $10K
Insurance= $700. yr
gallons of fuel= 17 (in a tankful)

boat= $100K+
Enigine(s) $16K (cost to rebuild both)
Trailer= $10K (Myco)
Insurance= $2,800. yr
gallons of fule= 200+ (one tankful) :eek:

Awesome looking.. I think Superperformance makes one of the best replica, Ive really checked them out. I was thinking of building the same model as a project with my son. Good luck with her. :cool: Jeff

I agree with that comparison better than relating it to a Ferrari or a Vette, etc... Why compare a Top Gun or a 51 OL to a sportscar that's not made to handle potholes, bumps in the road and nasty weather conditions. Top Gun is a proven rough water boat . You ever see a Vette on the Highway during a snowstorm? He's the guy in the slow lane with his Hazzard lights on . The TG and the 51 Ol are like tanks on the water not some little hot rod.
The Exotic car comparisons should be for the high end $$$ cats. They are lightning fast and perform best on good weather days. :evilb: :D :evilb: :D

The OL would be more like a Lambo. Lower production, not as recognized, yet coveted by a an exclusive group of people who want to be a little different and unique.The Fountain would be the Corvette. Outstanding performance from a high production company at a reasonable price.

See even a Fountain guy like me can get it right! :D
