Didn't the Baccardi boat run with #6's with the skegs cut off and rudder?

Yes.The rumor is around 180 MPH is the limit. The ideal setup is a rudder on a V-hull to run bigger speeds. It is not a horsepower game to run big numbers in a V-hull.Cigarette had 2200 HP motors to run a number. If the hull was efficient and had less drag with a rudder setup it had the potential to run over 200.Reggie ran 183 with 1500 HP Sterlings. The limiting factor wasnt the power, it was the boat.I predict Reggie will reset the record with the Sterlings and not the twin turbo engines.OL has run a big # already with "tired" Sterlings. The biggest advances with running a # was with setup and hull modifications and not adding more power.

However it would be cool to get all the manufacture together on the same day same rough water to do some sort of kilo run. However is would not be a valid run if one manufacture runs up north on 1 type of rough water adn another runs in Florida on another type of rough water. The elements have to be the same.
would love to see another run to Bahamas or possably across Lake Michigan and back
We have talked about putting on a race from Michigan to Milwaukee and back now that is a rough water kilo run LOL

Reggie will use the turbo motors the Sterling need to be rebuilt before they are used again. The problem was not the 6 drives, he needed a boat longer than 40' this cut down 47' will get the job done.

Fountain Ad in Feb's Hot Boat Mag:
"The 47 Fountain on ...."
".....World Champion in Super Vee Unlimited and garnered first overall, averaging speeds of 150 mph with bursts approaching 170."
"While one certain boat builder continuously makes fraudulent claims of speed...."
Same Magazine and edition page 98:
"Driven to Perfection"
Mike Seebold and David Knight drove the 44' Fountain to capture the World Championship for Super Vee Unlimited averaging 93.78 mph, 103.21 mph, and 100.66 mph during three days of competition.
So which is it guys ??? A 44 or a 47 ?
150 average or somewhere around 100 ???
If Fountain wasn't there to see OL run, how can he prove they didn't reach their mark ?
Don't worry though, he will get to see the OL speed this season.....
Destin was just a preview of what is yet to come....
