FREE Boat Safety Certificate Class - FOR NJPPC MEMBERS!!!!!
As everyone hopefully knows, the state of NJ now requires all powerboat operators to hold a Boat Safety Certificate showing that they have passed a NASBLA certified boating safety course.
Lt. Harry Vliet has always been a supporter and promoter of safe boating in the State of NJ. Lt. Vliet has also worked closely with NJ Performance Powerboat Club over the last 8 years while stationed at the NJ shore. Harry officially retired this month.
Marine Max Brick NJ as well as Harry Vliet would like to make the following generous offer to NJPPC members:
Clas Date: Saturday February 10th 9am - 5pm
FREE BREAKFAST - Compliments of Marine Max
FREE COURSE MATERIALS - Compliments of Marine Max
FREE MORNING CLASS (1st half) - Given by Lt. Harry Vliet NJ State Police (ret.)
FREE LUNCH - Compliments of NJPPC
FREE AFTERNOON CLASS (2nd half) - Given by Lt. Harry Vliet NJ State Police (ret.)
FREE EXAM - Compliments of Marine Max
Everyone who passes will receive a NJ State issued Boat Safety Certificate that will allow you to conform to the latest NJ law that makes Boating Safety Classes mandatory for all operators.
THIS CLASS IS LIMITED TO NJPPC MEMBERS AND WE CAN ACCOMODATE A MAXIMUM OF 50 PEOPLE.
The class is available on a first come - first serve basis.
I myself already have a Safe Boating Certificate (jet ski license / USCG / Power Squadron - same thing) but I will be attending and taking the exam as a refresher.
I hope you will come out and join me!
To RSVP - email me your name and cell phone number to reserve your spot.
See the below link for more details on the Safe Boating requirements in the state of NJ.

Re: FREE Boat Safety Certificate Class - FOR NJPPC MEMBERS!!!!!
A few people from out of state questioned if they needed a Boating Safety Certificate in NJ. The answer is as follows compliments of Lt. Harry Vliet NJSP (ret.)
FOR TIDAL WATERS:
If someone lives in another State and has a boating certificate recognized in their home State allowing them to operate a vessel, they may operate in the State of New Jersey for a period of 60 days ( as if they were passing through).
If they keep their vessel in the State of New Jersey for over 60 days and live in another State they must have a N.J. Safe Boating Certificate.
FOR NON TIDAL WATERS
Same requirements for tidal waters and in addition must have drivers license endorsement from N.J. Dept. Motor Vehicles.
As always, the age requirements for NJ must be met while operating in NJ State Waters.
13 YOA for boats over 12 feet in length and under 10 horsepower.
16 YOA for all other power vessels.

One of the few things I miss about NJ, is NJPPC. You and your team, have always been ahead of the curve on safety and education issues. You were working on safety when it was not in vogue, and while other poker runs were working on jello shots. You were working on education, while others were screaming about speed restrictions. You have gotten positive results, and now others are trying to follow your lead.
As always, Great Job, NJPPC.

Big THANKS to Dave for organizing such a great event. This is another example of a free NJPPC benefit where the comparable value exceeds the entire cost of annual dues for a participating club member.
