This has nothing to do with the technical merit of both systems it is just a question of marketability.

Everybody wants 6's.

Once again, thank you for the GLH PSA

I am sorry, the notch reference was not to cats, rather it was to V bottoms.

Do all these trade in value calculations included interest expenses, taxes, and time value of money. Also, one could include the variable cost of rebuilds.

Hypothetically:

Let's say you pay 40K more for the #6 equipped boat, and finance it. Now your paying 40K extra and the related interest on the 40K. Then you may have more rebuilds with the #6 drive.

So.......when you sell it.....you get 40K less........but.........you paid 40k less in the first place. Second, you didn't pay interest and taxes on the additional amount. Third, you saved 10K in rebuilds.

For this analysis to be financially correct, all these factors must be calculated.

Oh.........what if you buy it used?

Just throwin it out there :D

One of our buddies has a 40 Skater with T58's.

We have a 2 year old 46 Skater at the shop next door. I can not believe how rusted the prop shafts are on this 2 year old boat. Then I ask myelf, does that rust go under the prop shaft seal? Then u ask your self why does my dry sump six have water in it? Breaking gears, breaking gimble rings is a pain in the ass.

Resale. Are you going to make me post that 2003 microfiche for dry sump number 6 with all the parts that say "This part no longer available". Some part numbers supercede. Some do not. Do you own a machine shop. I do and wil cst huge money to make parts. So when you read"This part no lnger available" that hurts resale. www.mercruiserparts.com
