Happy New Year from Talk Offshore

Happy New Year!

As we all recover from the Christmas holidays and the New Years weekend, we look back and look forward with thanks and optimism. 2006 was an awesome year for us at Talk Offshore, as we had the opportunity to cover racing from all of the major US sanctioning bodies in offshore powerboat racing.

We were also honored to participate in the debut LIVE TV coverage initiated by John Haggin and the AMF team. Clearly the coverage of offshore powerboat racing reached an ever-increasing number of people, both in terms of live broadcast and the audio/video replays available to fans and racers alike.

It takes so many people to make what we do possible, and before we move into the 2007 racing season with what we hope will be the best season that offshore powerboat racing has seen in years, we would like to thank those who made the 2006 season possible.

First and foremost, we thank the loyal fans that tune in on the weekends and throughout the week to listen to offshore racing play-by-play on Talk Offshore. Without the fans, there is simply no need for us to do any of this. Thank You!

Next, to all of the racers, thanks for making our job easy by providing exciting competition and all of the drama and rivalries that make the sport thrilling to watch and listen to. You are all sportsmen that participate in perhaps one of the most spectacular motorsports in the world for little or no compensation, save glory. As Mike Tomlinson always says, you are all the best, and we at Talk Offshore are proud to consider you friends.

Racers need somewhere to race, and that is where the sanctioning bodies and race producers come in. Although there is still plenty of politics in the sanctioning end of the sport, we remain hopeful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel that will bring this great sport together. Regardless of the politics, we thank the Offshore Super Series, Superboat International, and the Offshore Performance Association for their support of Talk Offshore, and their tireless efforts to promote the sport we all love. Special thanks to all of the race producers as well, for putting on the events we cover. Until one has been on the production side of racing, it is impossible to conceive of all the work that it takes to make an event flow seamlessly, and they make it look easy.

Finally, we simply could not do any of this without the support of our sponsors and partners. Steve Schuble of OSO, you are a visionary and arealways on the cutting edge. You have been there from the beginning, and we value our OSO connection more than you will ever know. David Scott (Budweiser Select) & John Tomlinson (TNT Custom Marine and Spinnaker Marina), you were instrumental in bringing Talk Offshore to all of the OSS events. You are both true gentlemen in the sport, as well as tremendous competitors. Congratulations on your National Championship, and thank you for your ongoing support.

Special thanks to Tom Abrams of Reliable Carriers, Chris Morth of CMI, John Brunner of Nauti-Cool Air, and of course Reggie Fountain of Fountain Powerboats for your relentless commitment to Offshore Powerboat Racing, and being the best at what you do.

Last, but not least, thanks to all of the men and women of the US Armed Forces that listen around the world, and fight to defend our freedoms. It is because of your efforts that we enjoy the privileges here at home. We wish you all well, and pray for your swift and safe return home.

As we move in the 2007 season, we at Talk Offshore wish everyone a prosperous and happy New Year, and we hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. On behalf of Charlie Haimes, and Drew Corn, thank you all for your support and God Bless.

Martin Sanborn
