My brother and I , too! We used to have a blast. But when I turned 40 it seemed that the pain just wasn't worth it anymore.

When I was young, Mike Seipel learned to barefoot with a very good freind of mine on Little Muskeog Lake, where I lived, in Wisconsin. My freind, Mike, and one other guy from the lake made the US Barefoot Team in the late 70's to early 80's. As you probably know Seipel went much further than that and is still one of the greats!!

I was too busy with my soon-to-be-wife to learn with them. But when I moved to Tennessee and got divorced, I decided it was time to learn to barefoot.

Did we need a boom... Nahhhhh!
Did we need a wetsuit... Nahhhhh!

One deepwater attempt and many gallons of water up my a$$ and the barefoot suit was on order. The boom would have to wait.

We learned on the long-line behind my Century Riviera I/O. My butt, legs, and back were solid black & blue from bouncing on the water - but eventually we learned!

We ingested a lot of liquid courage to get the nerve up to keep trying!

I've still got the boom, ropes, handles, shorts, suits, gloves and my neighbor has the ski boat. I've been thinking about giving it another try this year... at least on a short-line off the boom.

We used to start footing in wetsuits in Feb so we were well practiced by the time the girls started going to the water.

Seipel is the King of the sport. I used to foot w/ Steve Merritt. I still like to hang on the boom and mess around.

Mike Seiple did a weekend course up here at at Puslinch Lake Ontario for a few years. I went 2 seperate times. Man that guy could teach a lot in a day. Had to cancel after the water level went down. Maybe because of too many enemas.
