Who won the 2001 F2 Title
 

I might have missed something, but I saw on speedvision that the Cigarette Team Virgin won the F2 Title for 2001. But I got my issue of Hot Boat and they printed that the UTZ team won. Who won? :confused:

My understanding is that Team Virgin won the World and national Championships in 2001. I think Team Virgin is only going to run Super Cat in 2002.

Team Virgin won. They finished first in the first race, and second in the second race. They had the most overall points. Page 129 of the Feb. issue of Hotboat has the final results of all classes. :cool: :cool:

There can be two different title holders in each class each year. A national Champion and a World Champion.

A national championship is won by earning the most points throughout the season at national (rather than divisional) races.

To be the World Champion, all you need to do it get the most points from the two races at the World Championship races in November.

However it is the National Championship that is harder to win and carries the F2-1 designator.

Yes, it was Team Virgin. I just watched the year in review a couple hours ago on Speed Vision.

Virgin won both this year.
