I've got an older daycruiser type boat. The floor of the cockpit would have to be changed for a stand up bolster. I've got some custom built sitdown/ wraparound captains chairs. Not quite a bolster. They hold you in place very well and have a lot of padding. I sit up high enough visibility is never a problem, but then I'm 6'6" tall. Sometimes I would like the option to stand, but I think my dash and controls would all be a bit of a reach then.

Hey I can even swivel them!!

I think Shane hit it on the head.
I've raced standing in both Super V and Factory 1, but have driven a number of race boats with custom "sit down" seats. I used to think standing was the way to go, especially in big water. But with some of the new seats out there, my next race boat will be a sit down boat.

STANDING - You have more control + save your back!

I like to sit and adjust the electric to comfort.

Without reading all the above, let me say this:

Sitting places approximatley 7 times more stress on the lumbar spine than standing. Add to that the force of offshore boating and you'll know why I will be in the market for some bolster seats in the near future.

Intolerant,
With the old style, (regular) seats, I agree. I was referring to the newer seats that are in a somewhat reclined position with a BUTTLOAD of progressive density foam in the seat bottom and back.

V,standing because its got no suspension.
