Amen brother ... that's why "inexperienced boaters" are the #1 cause of accidents. What can/should be done about it?

Yep, took two courses, one by the Coast Guard and the other by ODNR.

I have been a member of United States Power Squadrons for 23 years and teach the basic boating course as well as some elective courses. If anyone on this site that owns a boat and can't pass the test you really sould not be on the water. Remember they are for basic boating and are not in anyway a high performance class of any kind.

Tres' course was invaluable to me. After 20+ years of driving boats.

I hold a 100 Ton Ocean Operators license with navigation from Mississippi River to Cape Cod. Until selling out last year my family had operated a fleet of 90' steel Scallopers in the north atlantic for 40 years. I still plan to take Tres course sometime this year.
