Default Twin engine owners with shift/throttle combo

Where are your throttles - inside (closer to you) or outside?

On the Sunsations the shifters are on the outside/ throttles closer to you on the inside.

I was asking because a few folks told me that this is opposite of what is considered 'normal'. I know it boils down to preference, however, I have not owned a twin engine boat and would like to know what people feel is easier for docking, etc.

shifter,throttle,throttle,shifter

I always thought having S/S/T/T would be to hard to operate the inside shorter shifters w/o hitting the longer throttle. Having to have both hands in a smaller confined area as opposed to the outside shifter setup looks alkward???

Mine are S/T/T/S. I liked the looks of T/T/S/S, however, in practice the S/T/T/S works very well for the very reason that US1 stated. When docking, the throttles are at idle and you dock with the shifters. It is easy to work the shifters without hitting the throttles when they are on the outside.
