Please no disrespect to anyone and not that I have any great insite or that I am any expert but, if you where running at a good clip with your trim tabs all the way down and you trim all the way in, this would be forcing your bow down into the water and if you cleared a large enough first wake and fell into the whole before the second wake hit , I would think it would be like hitting a brick wall both times. Like I said with all due respect, I'm not tring to blame anyone or anything just trying to find out what would do this so it never happens to any of us.

I know that a couple people have mentioned it but there doesn't seem to be any answers so far that I can see. is there a way to test for soft spots or just hull strenght in general. I know a few have said that everyone should have there boat surveyed but how does a surveyor detirmine these factors. I am very concerned as a owner of a older boat.

If it is a solid glass built boat with no coreing and long as the stringers and transom are solid I would believe that you would be alright.I have seen quite a few cored snail boats where the balsa coring had became saturated and created soft weak areas and ultimately failure . I have also seen where older foam cored high performance snailboats boats have had their skins shear away from the coring, yet remain totally intact and unnoticable unless some were to do a inspection. If this happens you have a big problem.

Sorry for the snailboat reference but that is mostly where my experience of these failures lies.

I believe that lightly built older foam cored boats that have been subjected to repetetive amounts of very high stress have a limited shelf life and should be inspected with a cautious eye.

Just my 2cents.

Any info on the "official" cause of this accident?

Anyone know how Jennifer is doing?

It is time to put this to rest out of respect for the families.

Mark if you want to know what happened we can discuss it over dinner, I saw some pictures and got some information that has not been posted on the internet. I have also owned 4 Powerplays personally.
