The cat has at worst a 60" wide stance for stablity (width of the tunnel) verses a V which is on a pendulum. Also when a cat goes airborn it is being partially supported by air so when it re-enters the H2o. it is going to be a much softer landing. |

I'll bite and risk getting flamed.... depends what ype of waters and speeds you want to run. I had 3 yrs in a 25 Daytona, 3 yrs in a 28 Pantera and now have a couple months in my 30' Daytona (Sorry T2 for leaning west)- so my perspective is with smaller perf boats
I boat inland lakes, but grand and Loto can get pretty snotty, also went to Destin last yr for a little fun in the Gulf (Pantera). The lake I live on is too mild to matter. If the water is smooth enough to go 50+ I like the cats waay better. I'm sure some bigger/ deeper /better cats (Than my centerpod west coast stuff) have a higher threshold of how much slop it takes to slow you down. But if the slop is such that you're going to run 30-50, I'd much rather be in the Pantera as the cat is out of it's elements at that speed. The Pantera is a flat out blast in the slower slop:) |

I'm looking to move everything to California, sales southern and production Northern. Currently have all my Washington State real estate on the market, the second they sell and close escrow. I'm 99.9% certain this will be mine:

Re: Whats better in the rough Cat or Vee?
I'll be honest...I've never been in big water in a modern 36+ Cat...heck I've never been in a cat other than a 25 Eliminator...so I can't answer this questions or really get much involved in this thread.
Hopefully someday my ride will come! |

I'd go with V bottom if Cat lands wrong they hook like blowing a drive:eek: Also OL Fountain Cigerette Apache are cheaper to insure than most Cats so I whould say they are safer also!:chick:

Re: Whats better in the rough Cat or Vee?
have been in both v's and cat's in lake Michigan, Ocean and LOTO, in big waves over 4' the big V is a much better ride and alot more predictable.
