Verado 300 and 325HP to debut in Miami

Mark the cost of oil for the 2-stroke will end up costing you more money. 4 stroke are where it's at for the future in outboards. I do not miss my 2 strokes at all. The Verado's do great with gas milage until you gethtem up over 45-4700rpm and they really start to suck the gas but so does everything then.

Mark, I miss the big block's but ever since I went with outboards my boating has been ultra reliable and fun. Plus I can get into shallow water and up to sand bars with outboard so much easier. I have a deep desire to get a 35-38 boat with twin 525 Mercs but I am not sure I want the hassle of outdrives again. You will love the outboards when you get your boat.

My 200 HPDI's sip oil, get excellent mileage, are faster than the same hull with 225 4 strokes, and dont smoke except on the initial cold startup.. I'll stick with two strokes..

Fountain1fan, It's not a two-stroke vs. 4-stroke thing for me, it's a HP thing. If Evinrude comes out with a 375hp 2-stroke e-tec then I'll strongly consider them. I'm impartial to neither technology. Rather, I'm open to whichever technology is advancing and improving. I'm impressed with the Optimaxes, but I feel they've stopped at the 300hp mark, and I want an outboard more powerful than that. I like all the integrated features of the Verado and it's those features that make me overlook the 4'stroke's shortcomings.
But basically I'm just looking to get 1000hp of outboard power in the form of triples to hang off my bracket as soon as possible. Whichever company that comes out with a PRODUCTION outboard which can get that done for me the soonest, wins.

I love my 2 strokes, gas mileage is great!
More HP would always be better!

Bombardier has a 350ish HP V6 out there right now running. They will not be releasing it at Miami though, they are waiting till they have a full production run ready to ship. It will be by far the lightest around, run on 87 octane and have a BIG warranty.
As far as the verado, I suppose it has it's place. But the 2 strokes out perform it, burn considerably less gas...... and are LIGHTER. I recal when OMC came out with the V8 and merc laughed and made fun of it for being to heavy....... the Verado is 100lbs more!.
It would be nice to see the steering and fly by wire on the Opti and for other mfg to pick up the concept.

I am running 275 Verados on my 328 Glasstream CC and I get 70-72mph all day long at 8000lbs. I am a big fan of the Verados..

Yes, I've been told that THAT motor is the one to wait for.... I believe that each manuf will offer thier own version of the fly-by-wire and dts, just a matter of time. As Howard Huges said, "It's the wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future...."
This is all good news. The competition between manuf. is pushing the envelope and we're all benefitting.
