Lift Placement
 

Just looking for some help on the bunk placement on my lift. Currently have a 14,000 lbs. Hi-tide elevator lift with pivoting v-blocks instead of straight bunks for the stepped bottom. Going to be putting new 35ZR on it. Right now my blocks are 20" apart on the back rail, basically together forming a vee on front fork. The boat will have about 4 feet overhnag in the back, the rest being all nose. Any opions on my block placement, especially the front ones being so close? Had a Formula 292 on the lift same set up, all was fine. Have hull drawings for the Donzi and all seems fine with steps, strakes, etc. Will she be stable?

I would not want my boat hanging 4 inches past my bunks in the back forget 4 feet. You will create a a hook in the bottom.

That's exactly what I thought but I wasn't sure if I was understanding the layout. 4 feet of the heaviest part of the boat hanging over.:eek:

My lift is a side loading lift. My 2 forks are about 11 feet apart creating the cradle. I have always been told that the c/g (center of gravity on any boat) should sit in the middle of the lift. As in all boats the weight is backloaded, creating a c/g on my new boat that is 80" in front of the rear transom. Since the swin platform is roughly 2.5 feet or so even behind that I was figuring on the 35ZR my c/g is roughly 8 feet from the sterm. My boat would have only about 1 foot of the transom overhanging my rear blocks. The rest is swim platform. They'll be roughly 16 feet of overhang in the bow.

With stepped bottoms are you using blocks on lifts or the long wooden bunks?

I have long wooden bunks that are stepped & they go to the end of the bottom of my boat in the stern.
