Didn't winterize oops 15 degrees

It was 63 degress here Saturday and the cold front slipped up on me. My pontoon boat sits in the water and it wasn't winterized , surface temperature 45 degrees and it got below 17 degress last night (cup of water was frozen in my truck this am). Engine is a V-6 , well I got lucky I guess , nothing damaged. I just went out and ran around , no leaks , temperature fine. My dad always told me the surface temperature water acts as a blanket.

Brian, go out at dusk and get the engine hot and then go out early am and crank it up and you should be OK. Leave it in the water and at least your outdrive might be ok. Go wintertize it.

Never had an engine freeze sitting in the water. The water temp is a buffer for extreme temps. If raised up on a lift, different story, but in the water,no problem. Course I am in Alabama:drink:
