Troutly,

I think very soon your price estimation of 250,000 for the 37 with 575 is closer than you think.

When you consider the 10000LBS Plus weight of the 382 I don't think it is to bad. Some of the other boats mentioned are about the same speed and are in the mid 8K range on wieght. The 38ZX weighs approx. 11200 pounds dry and has a 9'3" beam. That is a lot of mass. If you consider a room with 2-3000LBS of boat material sitting in it that is also a lot of the added expense. I think if they put the boats on a diet and all the variables were the same the Formula hull would not be at the back of the pack.

DonziMan2, I have to echo your thoughts, the Formula's in the Richmond club really are nice boat and do well in the rough, they too seem to be very loyal and stay Formula....

Great talking with ya tonight, we'll miss ya tomorrow but no biggy! I am going in for about an hour and then home...

I am officially down of the snif buzz from the vac bag.... good stuff....
so off to bed I go!

Talk to you later Bryan, I too have enjoyed this thread. Can't wait till spring breaks so we can get the boats back out on the Bay. Talk to you soon.

The Scorpion left over, I bet if you offer them $89,000 you most likely can get it, $70,000 I don't think so, Check boat prices lately, The 25 Outlaw doesn't sell below 70,000. I know Cape Island Yacht sales has a 28 Scorpion for $89,900 and thats a 2001 Left over.

Cool

Maybe its the freight? $133k for a 28ZX... Hell, I'll buy the 2001 28ZX with the full Scorpion package, put it on a trailer, and deliver the whole package to you for that price. Boat is $89k all day long down here, and that might even have some negotiating room left in it. FWIW, boat also runs a solid 81 GPS MPH full of fuel, 3 bodies on board with me (6'2, not a light weight) being the second smallest one, and rips in the rough stuff.
No good performance boat is cheap. Donzi, Formula, Fountain. Name brands, gonna cost ya. But, as stated, most of the name brand boats come fully optioned out (heater? n a boat? Why?) and ready to rock. But, you pay for that. Donzi will build you a non optioned boat to spec, and you can save money. But, how much will you spend later to put the goodies on it, and will the manufacturer give you a 5 year warranty on the add ons?

DonziMitch: I was involved in the rigging of OB Donzi's during that time period.F 23's and F33's were sent out by the factory unrigged, and dealers handled the motors etc. With OMC at the helm, quality did suffer on the boats. However, we see where OMC got themselves. Looking at the new boats, while I must in all fairness say they are not perfect, they are building a hell of a boat. But then, I find faults in Hatteras and Bertram boats also. No manufacturer can afford to build the perfect boat guys, and compete in a market driven by price.

89K is a great price for any name brand 28ft boat with twin Scorpion 377's.
Got any photos laying around?

I know this. Judging by the price, however, I don't think Donzi does.

It was a joke. I do like Donzi. I was just trying to show how stupid the markup is on these things. I'm a used boat fan. I would never pay new boat prices for any manufacturer.
