Broke Beak ---- I was thinking the same thing...... I change drive fluid w/ each oil change ---- No problems on my 525 boat. My 600 boat only has 6 hrs. run-time. But, I'm expecting the same thing.
PM ---- Does Mr. OL maintain/replace his internal drive gears etc... at the suggested intervals (every 75 hrs., depending on props and how hard you run the boat)?

I'm not too worried about the drive- it's a single engine lake boat. I should be fine. You guys with your huge boats would laugh at me -this is just a little 4800lb v-bottom with a single. This is my first "bigger" boat - moving up from a 21' jet w/modified 454 runs just under 70. -I was weined on overpowered outboard hydrostreams and river rockets. Always love a small boat with the big engine.

Have 2 in a Fountain, 62 hrs no problems. Idle great run strong all day. In fact the 525's sound a lot more radical than my 600's. Easy on gas, not sure if its the boat set up or the motors but they real user friendly. If you order, get the Smart Craft display. It can tell you more information then you have time to look at. All the engines vitals, speed, ect. My shows about 1.4 miles per gallon. Down side, us run at least 91 octane.

I have the 600 sci and am very happy with it. Initially I had some setup issues mainly due to not enough water pressure and intake temps that were too high. Whipple fixed me up with a stage 2 set up and it woke this motor right up.
Stock 600 sci 88- 90 mph
Stage two whipple upgrade 97 mph
The motor with the stage two whipple upgrade will hit the limiter with my current prop. If I spent some more time and money I am sure that I could gain 2-3 more mph from this motor. The difference with the whipple upgrade is remarkable. Logically, this will put more strain on the drives but it is alot more fun. I have 175 hrs on the motor.
Boat is a 28' Howard sportdeck. 4800 lbs dry
I would like to stay informed on the 600 sci packages that are out there. So far so good for me.

on your original water pressure problems, was the motor new? If yes, did merc do anything for you, or did you go straight to Dustin for your upgrade and fix? I believe that Dustin's upgrade kits ALL help with rerouting water to the intercooler, correct?
Thanks,
Deab
