Not many have made money in the performance boat building business...It’s a credit to him that he has a real business that we can talk about Profit and Loss. He is also a great promoter for the sport/ industry.

With that said, I am not a big fan of the product but a lot of people do.

perhaps the pr could be a result of Fountains relationship with Mercury. I guess, over the past years, it has been easy for somebody that doesn't pay the bills to post PR about "another banner Year" or "record sales" "Profits, Profits" etc. etc., Wasn't Reggie into Mercury for Millions thus the new relationship? I could be way off on this one as I've only picked up bits and pieces in passing. I assume they had to tapper into this type of PR so they wouldn't scare anybody.

All in All Reggie makes a great Boat! At least I like em'! :drink:

Fountain is the only SEC boat manufacturing companies (that I know of) - which is a huge accomplishment in itself.

I was sold on the 29 until I found out about the rough water capability and beak factor.

I do understand from an outside source that Brunswick still holds an option to buy the company.

Not according to their SEC filings. They may have a private deal with Reggie who owns control, but the loan guarentees have been released.

How can a company post a loss and lay off 150 people last week when it has a $50 million dollar backlog of orders?.

They could have a Billion dollar backlog of orders and still show a loss for the quarter. It depends on when they are built/shipped/paid for etc.

NickOTeen,

Not going bankrupt ain't exactly hero work, I agree, but what the PB article said, if you read it, is that not going bankrupt is "great source of price" for Fountain. The guy who wrote the article quoted Reggie on subject, but made no comment one way or another on his "business acumen."
