Hey Offshore Score,

I talked with Kevin yesterday and he said that everybody is going to have to upgrade to keep up with the SlingShot this summer! He said National Marine told him 93-95 MPH. Those 575 SCI's are awesome and should be a blast. Sucks to buy a new boat and have it delivered to your house already winterized. Thats TORTURE!!!

Madcow, Offshore Score.

Unless you are referring to the classic Cigarettes I don't think the 69 Camaro is a fair analogy...more accurately, I would say that the Top Gun(or any NEW Cigarette for that matter) is like the new Saleen S7 while the Sonic is more like the Cadillac STS...both fine and fast automobiles, but different audiences for sure.

And, I don't mean to burst your bubble, but when was the last time Sonic made a hull or deck change? Are they still running conventional, non-stepped v-bottoms? In my opinion, the only way they're able to get faster speeds out of their new boats is by lightening them up. Historically Sonics have been heavy boats and could afford to shed a few pounds, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out...

I've seen a new 45 Sonic with about 80 hours on it---run by an older gentleman with a crack down the side of the deck/faring on the starboard side(clear through, mind you---not star-crazing)...from normal running...

Well said Fred...I hope my post wasn't taken as Sonic bashing...nor to I believe that my Cigarette is the greatest thing out there...it's heavy and slow as compared with boats built today. My point simply was that Cigarette has made many advances, both in layup schedules, and hull and deck design---not to be compared with the 69 Camaro(which is an awesome car by the way)...

I should point out also that I do like the Sonic as well---styling and amenities. I believe it is a fine boat. Headroom in the cabin and freeboard are greater than most boats out there. A whole lot more creature comforts than the Cigarette, what with generators and A/C and all!

Lastly, I would like to say, different strokes for different folks...I'm just thankful that I have the opportunity to enjoy this great sport and chat with you fine folks about it! There are alot of less fortunate people in the world.

That Sonic was recently offered for sale for 150K just so you know ;)

Looks like a very nice clean boat.

Offshore Score,

I thought I had read that you bought a 45 a little while back. If so, why the interest in the 38? Thinking of having multiple boats located at different marinas around the area?

If you want more info check out the Sonic website, they have all the magazine reviews written about the different models. I know there was one about the Black Jack.
