Boating in Mississippi ?

What is the boating like in the area of Meridian ? Are there any members on here that live in that area or even Jackson.?

Theres a lake smaller than ours Its a 4,100 acre lake .I wouldnt go there. Ours in Jackson is 33,000-acre Ross Barnett Reservoir. No reason to go here also if ya have a choice:D Its about 7 miles across and full of stumps, muddy and one small bar/restaurant here.On the rez here the river feeding it has white sand bars that are fun,but you take the chance of stumps. There is the Johnson Tombiggee water way in Meridian I wouldnt boat there either.

The Ms Gulf Coast is not worth going to right now there not rebuilding it,just the casinos. Its still tore up pretty bad and would be about 3.5 hours from Meridian. The Islands are about 15 miles out and are pretty cool.

If I lived in the Meridian I would hit the lakes in Al or run down to Gulf Shores /Orange Beach Al.

Whats the deal? You must be going to working in the Gov. there?

I live in Gulfport, & I do agree somewhat that boating is not as good as it was, but the islands are where I go, & I do enjoy them. You just have to be careful as you get close to most of them....not much water, South of the islands offers plenty of water as far as you can see...:D ...Of course, Gulf Shores is only 90mins away, FL just another 30 min. So there ya go...Boating in Mississippi....:D

I plan on being there for the races, let me know when you planning on getting in town, maybe we grab a cold one. I mostly run out to Horn, I actually like the new landscaping Katrina did, it has made much more room for boat parking, & the split, you can even run thru, just bump the drive up a bit at low tide....:D
