Wellcraft first made them with V-6 I/O's. Then they made them with Volvo Jets. The Jet was alot of fun, but as with most of what Wellcraft was pumping out at the time, they did not have the best build quality. On the small Scarabs, Wellcraft would cover everything with carpet, even in the motor box. Take a guess why ???????

I am an airline pilot and I just got done flying for the night. Figured I would drag the boat in and give it a wash.

Next step is remove bottom paint, then drop a new 4.3 (225hp) V6 in her and slap an Alpha drive on.

Hoping to hit 60mph with stock power.

Here is another pic...

26ft LS Scarab
Just a bit of history, The First Scarab Jet Sprints were 16ft and had 4.3 V6 with a Scarab Jet Pump.
They were designed and built at Team Scarab in SoCal.
I still have the 1st one and it has a 164B&M blower on it.
Wellcraft increased the size and Volvo bought the design for
the pump, Wellcraft also made a unit with a outdrive.
The Jet Sprints were used in the Universal Studios Stunt Shows in CA. and FL. for a few years.

I had one with the 4.3 and it was very fun. It did about an indicated 55 and handled very light chop well. Any real chop or wakes can get airborne quickly. We used it alot for a year and decided to move up. It was a really neet little boat for the money. Enjoy.

26ft LS Scarab
Just a Quick history: The Scarab Jet Sprint was Designed
and built as a 16ft at Team Scarab in SoCal with a NEW Hull
and Scarab Jet intake and pump mid86 to 87, I was involved and still own the 1st Boat.
We hauled 3 boats to wellcraft and they decided to build a
longer wider hull, 1st with jet pumps and later with outdrives.
My boat has a Merc 4.3 with a special intake and a B&M 164
Blower, I also have a Volvo 4.3 Vortex motor that I use to
cruise around.
We tested over a dozen different motors in my boat and did
drawbar tests on each, Ran Small blocks, Quad4s, Mazda,
even blocked off the transom and ran a outboard.
The only ones with a center unit was a Scarib inflatable that
was made as a Yacht tender, Yes there is also boats called
SCARIBs from Team Scarab.
