Thanks everyone for replying. My new trailer has surge disk brakes. How does the electric surge system work? Can I just add the electrical system to my existing surge brakes. I wan't to have the best possible brakes available.

Thanks Kirk

KN,
I prefer electric, after my pain in the ass surge brakes let me down numerous times on my old boat/trailer, so far the electrics have been trouble free and are nice since you can adjust 'em to come on before the tow vehicle brakes. You may also be interested in electric/hydraulic brakes: they actuate electrically form a tongue mounted unit that activates the hydraulic system, check 'em out on the Expediter's web site: http://www.expediter.com/products/brakes/

Good Luck,
paul

Boathead. That is the style we are putting on our trailer. Seems like a good combination. The ability to adjust the trailer brake "rate" and actuation timing versus the surge brakes, but not having to worry about having the electrics in the water.:D
