Merc 600 SC's
Am going to switch to Xr's with Sportmaster lowers.. Does anyone have info on adjusting the boost on the Super Charger on the 600SC I was told they come from Merc with only around 5-6 lbs of boost but can be brought up to in the 12-14 range. Any info?? reliability, worth it ? etc... Thanks

You really need an innercooler to see a "MAJOR" differance in power from stock.
We put 7lbs to our 600SC, AFR heads,JE 8 to 1, Crane roller cams with stock carbs we ran out of cfms @ approx 5000rpms..With our added 900cfm carbs our 600scs had our TopGun close to the mid 90s and that was with her side vents removed and engine hatchs lifted a few inchs. Without scoops you cant get enough air to your carbs on the Gun. We tosted stock Bravos with stock power, then with added power toasted a few brand new Max Machine Worx drives on our Kevlar Topgun.
You may also want to grab an extra input shaft from the Blower Shop for your 420s, even with stock boost they are the weak link esspecialy when you turn up the wick. The 600s are great engines and will run a long long time.If you put an innercooler and a few lbs to them you will feel it and still have reliable power, just be carefull getting on plain.. I would keep mine around 2800 to 3000rpms while getting on plane with a ton of tab.
Good Luck!

I know someone that runs 10# of boost with a chiller on a pair of 600SC's; runs large hydralic roller, stock heads, and has flat tops in (~8.4:1)...on 93 Octane, making close to 900hp. Its been a very reliable set-up.
