Correct....The evironmentalists are by far a majority in this country or these laws would never pass.

Enviro bull**** is just that, for the most part: bull****.

BUT... the enviro bull**** is driving efficiency improvements, and large ones at that, and i'm all for that.

I'll gut the cat, i don't care, but I'll pay extra for a closed-loop fuel injection system. The efficiency gains, even over a typical marine (open-loop) fuel injection system are quite large. More effective engine controls will lead to longer engine life as well.

So ***** now, but you'll see ancillary benefits other than the non-benefits the enviro-nazis are calling for.

Well, considering china and india dont give a sh*t about emissions of any sort it is silly to drop the BB motor on that alone. We dont even know if our presense on earth has anything to do with the warming trend. It could be .001 percent of an increase b/c of human output. Mars is experiencing the same increase and they have no BBC's or humans.......In all honesty it is more of an economic factor. It must be esaier to make the needed hp with a strung out SB and still pass emissions garbage, than with a lumbering BB. Who knows. Im buying several 496's and storing them for all sorts of ill $hit.

Looks like a perfect oppurtunity for an aftermarket
manufacturer to design & build a new big block.
Maybe Dart or someone who manufactures
blocks & heads

Not to worry. The only part of my engines made by Chevrolet is the block and those are made by Dart and World products also. Afew years ago Chevrolet announced that it was ending production of the 502. Last I looked, Mercury Racing was still building engines based on the 502.
