SmartCraft: Sytem View or Monitor

Looking for input on these products. Do you have them? Likes dislikes etc. Specifically the Livorsi units.

Thanks,

John

I have a system monitor in my boat. I added it last year. So far I like it very well. I like the fact I get a little more information than a buzzer can provide if there is a problem with the engine. I also like the Gallons per hour and water pressure features.

You can see it to the left of my dash in this pic.

Tell me about installation. Is this a single harness plug and play situation?

Thanks

For mine it wasv ery easy, just a single 496mag. I had to cut a 2 1/8 hole in the dash for the gauge, then ran a single cable from the gauge to the smartcraft port on the engine. The hardest thing was finding the dang plug at the engine side. It had been tucked up under the rest of the harness and I about got stuck in the bilge trying to find it.

On twins, you would have two cables and two monitors, one to each engine and you would have to calibrate one of the gauges to read Port instead of Starboard I believe, but it is not very difficult.

I would do it again on my next boat if it is smart craft enabled.

I too have been contemplating adding the Smartcraft SC1000 to my boat. I am thinking about relocating my Hour Meter, currently on the dash, and putting the sc1000 in it's place.

From my research you'll need:

$ 181.00 SmartCraft SC1000 Monitor
$ 83.05 30ft Cable or $ 80.94 20ft Cable
$ 169.00 Optional Transducer (for water depth)

I have Livorsi smartcraft on my boat along with the GPS speedo. I really like it compare to "dumb" gauges. Mch more detailed info on your motor and fuel usage and performance info is great. It's one of ther easons bought this boat over one with an HP 500 - also had external sterring so don't think it was the onlyreason. It's my opinion that the 496ma ho with the Smartcraft is a very cmplete turn key package. I added a color chartplotter - not pictured - all on a 26' boat (hey, it's shallow in the Gulf!)

Look at the Northstar screens that they use on the new Cigs. It is Smartcraft compatible and that way you can have one screen for all.

Anyone have any experience with the Northstar?

I have the same setup on my boat, except with twins - I would high recommend this monitor for any smartcraft capable engine. It's great to know the exact number of gallons of fuel burned, rather than rely on the fuel guages.
