The ship was sailing from Tunis to Barcelona when she encountered the storm. The crew have restored power to two of her four engines and she is now diverting to Tunis, and is expected to reach port on Tuesday.
Wonder if losing the engines had something to do, despite rough seas with the ship rocking n rolling pretty darn good?

Rare to see a passenger ship get caught in a big sea's cause most insurance and the operators set limits on what conditions they operate in. Well below most times of what the ship is capable of handling.

Learned the above cause I sent this to my Uncle who's Capt. of a 470 car and 2100 person passenger Ferry. Winds over 38knots his boat does not leave the dock.

If he lost power that would explain the rolling. Getting caught in a side sea sucks.
SOP would be to run with the seas quartering your stern or dead slow into them.
I took this pic from a 200 ft. offshore supply boat,120 miles south of Mobile ,AL in 2000. We were coming in from the platform Petronius.
It was a bad day to be out.
