With all the "it is the future" talk....It shows you how far ahead of his time Tom Gentry was with these units.

I just dropped my boat off for service and was talking to Kate about the turbo motors. I guess emissions is a reason why Tommy has been working on developing the turbo motors. They can make them run clean.

It's wierd to have my boat in the shop and feel good about it. Maybe next year I'll get it serviced and Turbo'd.

Now that you said the magic phrase "clean burning"
I wonder how long it will take Mercruiser to come out with a twin turbo race engine?

I attended a 3 day turbocharger course at SAE headquarters in Troy Mi. a couple of years ago and there were a few engineers from mercury in attendance. I`m sure the benefits of turbocharging are not lost on big black. Hell, F-1 guys were making over 1200HP with 98 cubic inches 15 years ago!

The BMW turbo F-1 motor made 1100-1200HP. 4 cylinder really screamed. There was a show on victory by design on speed to covered some of it.
