My parents had a cabin cruiser 60' Mainship until we moved to a beach house.... Nobody wanted to go out on trips boating, ended up selling the Mainship cause it was used maybe once after moving. Plus they made out pretty good selling the house, still hate them for it though! :evilb:

buy the boat. we already made one bad decision to buy a boat in the first place.:evilb:
or be smart and buy the house. it great advise for us who already have homes on the water .
BUY THE HOUSE OR THE BOAT, ITS YOUR MONEY. ENJOY IT

Growing up my family had cottages . All I remember is the work that comes with it . When I got married I said I would never own a cottage . So I bought a cruiser called it my floating cottage . Sure resale sucks but the best part was spending the weekend and just tieing it up and going home .
I am a Homebuilder/contractor so even visiting friends cottages the topic of me or my guys coming up to do work on the cottage always comes up . I work 50 to 60 hrs a week the last thing I want to do is build a frking deck . The idea for me anyway is to blow some steam . Everyone has different lifestyles hope it works for you .

Buy a place on the water.

Buy the property, realestate apprieciates, boats do not.

In 1998 we bought a new 35' Beakboat.

In 1999, we bought waterfront property.

The Beakboat is now worth about half, or less, than what we paid for it.

The waterfront is worth twice, or more, than what we paid for it.

Love them both, but the math makes it real tough for me to spring for a bigger boat. Then again, if we were to sell the waterfront....

But the waterfront and put in a boat lift. Makes everything way more relaxing. Plus like they said, the house will appreciate while the boat depreciates.
