Default Phoenix/Mesa area boating?

Going to the Phoenix AZ area (Mesa) the end of the month. A few of the folks we are going to meet were asking about going to Havasu and renting a boat for a day to go cruisin. Since Havasu is way too far away, are there any lakes closer that rent boats and may be more realistic?
Thanks,
Gordo

Canon lake is very beautiful, and a fun drive. Get there early and go to the marina and rent a boat. Then take it all the way back and you'll see some awesome views.

Poker run is at the end of the month, which days specifically? Maybe we can head out to Saguaro?

Gordo, I've been to Lake Pleasant a few times and it is a minnie Havasu in regards to the types of activities that takes place

You'll do fine on that lake. I've been to Siguaro too. It's smaller and more family oriented, do Pleasant, you'll like. If you head out of the main launch ramp and stay right theres a cove back there (forget what it's called) that everyone ties up and parties. good times. go to Hotboat.com and search Pleasant, there's been pictures posted recently.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback.
We fly out Thursday afternoon on April 26th and return Monday the 30th. I am flying out with a young lady and her two teenage daughters to "Meet the Parents". It was the parents idea to spend an afternoon on the water. Since I don't know these folks very well, I'm thinking I should lean towards the best scenic view rather than the hottest party spot, (but next time...).
Again, thanks for all the response and input .
