Wow, just re-read the entire thread and our thoughts and prayers continue for your son and family. We wish him continued strenght and a speedy recovery. The power of faith and prayers is amazing and comforting. Prayers also go out to the doctor and staff who are caring for your son.

Posting from the hospital
This is my 3rd attempt, I keep losing my connection
Nick is making progress, but he has had a rough time due to his epidural pain block becoming dislodged after 36 hours. The pain block should have lasted about 4 days and allowed him to do his lung exercises without too great a discomfort. (re-doing the epidural was considered too risky for Nick)
He has either been too drugged or in excruciating pain much of the time since Saturday. The Doctors seem to have found a combination of meds that allow him to function a little now and he has been up and walked around the nurses station three times today.
It is very tough to watch someone in this much pain. Unforrtunately for Nick, the key to his recovery is lung exercises and getting up, so they have to go easy on the pain killers.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers
