Well after months of searching I finally bit the bullet...... er SCARAB! Its a 33' 1999 with 502's, Hyd Latham Steering, KPlanes and only has 67 hours. The previous owner was a physician at one of my past hospitals where I was CFO and he just didnt have the time to use. He had on constant "winter" maintenance and the interior still smells like fresh fiberglass. We'll be calling Lake Travis, TX and San Leon, TX our homes. I was looking at older / smaller Scarabs but the wife "insisted" (ask Jason at So Austin Marine) that we get this one.

I had a buddy that had the identical boat. He had a little"extra" under the engine hatch. The boat would hit 104 on gps. Rock solid! Great boat! Good luck with the new purchase.

Whats really incredibe is how clean the boat is and it asnt even been detailed by the shop yet. It truly is like brand new. we looked at som e06 Baja's earlier in the morning and you can hardly tell the difference. It doesnt look like anyone ever was in the cabin. My 7 yo seems to be the most excited of all. It feels good to be back in boating.

OK Humour me .... all but my 18 Donzi were not trailer boats. Too far forward.. .back...... ???

It looks too far back. You will have to get to a weigh station, like a truck stop, and see the tongue weight, don't quote me and I will be corrected but I thought 10 to 20 % is right. So you have to weigh the whole thing, then just put the tongue on the pad and see where you are at. Move it back or forth until is is on specs. How does it tow? Sway? Ass heavy, Sag the truck real bad and it is too far forward. It may be dead on and it will be fine but you should find out. I had a boat that looked too far back so I spent a ton to move it forward and then broke an axle, which was very weak from rust, but it also seemed to have too much tongue weight. I learned the trick above after I messed with it, it could have been fine. Very nice boat, that's what counts. Great lines and a very solid and quality boat, it always has been known for its solid wave crushing hull. They have built these for so long they really have it down. Have fun.

Is the issue with the height of the "V" (??) bunker in the front not allowing the boat to sit lower / settle on the trailer in front?
