I just spent a couple of weeks in Key West and went out to see the boat quite a few times.Talked to the guy who is the owner briefly.
They are trying to build a cofferdam around the boat right now to float it out of there, they have all the metal in place and are ready to tarp up and seal the dam up but NOAA is holding up the project for now. Talked to Towboat U.S. guys the other day after they dragged us in to Robbys Marina and they all said the guy is a real pain in the ass to work with. |
tommy like I said in a post earlier..he´s determined to get the boat out (with as little damages to the system as possible). So no wonder he´s a pain, he´s paying for it too.

That SUCKS!

Obviously it wasn't exactly floated in there..drag the damn thing out already. The more and more it becomes a tourist attraction the more damage it will do...just get it over with already.

Thats what sucks ,if the enviromental Nazis would step aside for a moment the man could bring in a big tug with a winch and hook up 1500 feet out in some deep water and pour on the coal and slowly winch the tug back towards the sailboat and dredge out a channel and pull it out.But no they have to say no to every plan the man comes up with and fine him in the meantime.
Mickey i feel for the guy and i think alot of his pain in the ass attitude comes from fighting the sytstem that wont cooperate with what needs to be done to cure the problem. |
tommy, we both feel the same...
I wonder why the "greenpeacers" always have to be so nearsighted. If they´d let him dig that thing out it would have been up for repairs for maybe two yrs. from now and the ecosystem will cure up in that time easily. Why don´t Halmos threat the hippies about the fuel and oil that´s in the boat and what danger that will be as long as the boat is stranded there... |
