I would have a leakdown test done on each engine. I would also get oil samples, and send them to a lab. They can tell a lot from samples.

Any idea of what it would cost for a rebuild? Just an idea?

What about the drives, bravo 1's.. should I plan for 1000 hours out of those?

A complete rebuild doing all new components such as forged pistons, rings, bearings, upgraded camshafts, timing chains, all new valves, springs , valve locks, gaskets, rebuild on carbs, ect... and machine work, to do it correctly your looking at minimum $6,500.00 per engine. By the time you figure all misc. stuff like rebuilding raw water pumps, new ignition components and misc. .....it will ad up. The $6,500.00 number is primarily engine parts and labor. Not the extra marinizing components.

40 hours = 10,000 miles is 250 MPH AVERAGE!:D

I think you can replace the motors with new for less than 7500 each, they are 330 HP 454's.

I'd be willing to bet that he left a "0" off and it's 400 hours.;) :drink: :evilb:

My dad's cruiser has more than 1700 hours on each engine. 454's. They still run good, but he goes WOT maybe twice a year. Changes the oil once a year.
