You mean for instance... a man whom should not own a boat (names withheld) had started doing his own winterizing.(figured he would save a hundred bucks I guess.. no skin off my back!)
Last season installing his own drives (note., i mentioned "drives") finished with what he thought a complete boat, leaving his driveway, there just happened to be a loud clunk but never looked back to investigate... get to the ramp, dunked it in... and wondering why the boat was taking on water?! BLOOP-BLOOP!
Figured it out yet? If not.. you're NUTS! LOL
I am still ROFLMFAO to this day! . lol

Moral of the story is... always, ALWAYS double check you're NUTS!
GREAT POST! I was dying to share that appropriately some day LOL

you help your buddy get back to the gas dock, then when your boat is full of your buddies and your father, these guys you helped out still broke your balls infront of all your buddies and your pops..... just a guess....

OK - me pointing out what wrong with the boat.

When I sold my Baja - the wiring was going to sh$t - as they do with older Bajas (ok it is true so calm down...).

The guy comes in from Alabama with his girlfirend for sea trial. Starts by mixing Grey Goose and Cranberries at the dock. Mind you he's coming from a 20 Baja. We take it out and he is having a hoot of a time. We buzz around with a couple other perf. boats out there.

Me in a "what the matter with me" feel obligated to point out the faults - because believe it or not I just can't stick anybody in a deal. I was giving it away but I can't take advantage of a noob.

He bought it with a smile on his face.

I know of a person who will remain nameless who took a brand new (0 hour) high end offshore out for a test run and the whole drive fell off!

I restored a Carver 25' , installed a stought 425Hp mouse motor with a Bravo III, hense my screen name.
First sea trial with my dad on board I was cruiseing around just fine. decided to stand on her and run her up to full throttle, dang steering cable wound up like a rubber band do to too many HP with cable steering. Tossed me and my dad to starboard side, then I could not reach the throttle because G-Force was so bad. finally killed it. Dad broke two ribs and I was beat up pretty bad. End of story = Hydraulic steering.

While on the first sea trial on my old Cigarette, I had ignition failure on one engine. I fixed it & he came back several hours later. We went out the St. Lucie inlet (in Stuart FL) & had a great ocean run. Once back in the inlet, he asked if he could drive. Cruising around 40 or so, we passed a water cop (25mph zone but rarely inforced) . About 10 seconds later he hit the throttles & we took off. About 10 minutes later, I heard something funny. I looked back & saw a helicopter approaching and a sea of blue flashing lights on the water. After getting hauled down to the marine cop dock & nearly getting thrown in jail for conspiracy to smuggle drugs and initiating a police chase charge, the guy looked at me & asked with horror "does this happen every time you go out on one of these boats?"
He had flown down from NJ for the sea trial. He passed on the deal LOL
It turned out I knew one of the cops that showed up later. He snuck up on my boat many years ago, late one night thinking the two females & I might be doing drugs. He was a little embarassed when he stormed into the cabin!!!!!!!!
We had a good laugh & couldn't believe what a small world it is. He told the story to all the other cops that were there & everyone had a laugh. They finally let me & the non buyer go free
